Battling the dragon!
The dragon has been slain!
Returning home with their spoils.

No Trick!

Just another treat expected in the Rogers' family this May!

ETA: Okay, apparently the shirts are hard to read. They say: "Big news! I'm Gonna Be A Big Brother!"

AZ Family Postcard

DBG Pumpkin Festival 2006

On Sunday, we attended the Pumpkin Festival at the Desert Botanical Garden -- an annual event here in the Rogers' family. The boys enjoy taking the tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch and choosing their own pumpkin.

As in years past, Nate chose his pumpkin within 30 seconds of arrival. Colin is much more choosy, and takes his time finding just the right pumpkin.

This year they both chose pretty big pumpkins -- so it was nice that Dad and Jane were on hand to carry them!

It was a beautiful day, albeit a little hot (but not too bad.) Nate was thrilled to visit the Gardens again, as it is one of his favorite places -- and a place we don't visit when it's hot.

more backyard stuff

We decided we needed more pads in the backyard for the dining table and grilling area. Bo has also wanted a side driveway for a while, so we decided to have that done as well. This morning, they poured a few more stepping pads, a nice-sized patio, and a driveway that goes into the backyard about 12 feet. Unfortunately, it started pouring rain about 1/2 way through the cement pour, so I'm hoping it all dries as it should . . .

yes, the pool is full ;)

Yes, the pool is full, the pump was primed, and the waterfall runs! All the boys have been having a wonderful time swimming like fish almost every day since it was filled up. The water temp is around 80 -- which is chilly to me -- but nobody else seems to mind.

Colin has progressed amazingly in the last couple weeks - he jumps from the side into the deep end and picks up diving sticks with no problem; he swims from one end to the other; and is basically having a blast. Nate prefers to wear the life vest, or hang onto the noodle while in the water. Colin also wears his life vest, but tends to want it after swimming for a while (I think he puts it on when he starts to tire).
