My brother and his friend came into town for a visit and met us at the Desert Botanical Gardens after preschool this week. The boys were thrilled to see him and spend time with him!
This morning, Colin told his dad -- "It's time to take my training wheels off". Bo took them off this afternoon, and came in about 3 minutes later telling me to come outside. I came out - and Colin was riding with no problems! When he's ready to do something . . . he's ready! He's been riding all afternoon - including around the block 3 or 4 times, as well as back and forth our part of the street.
We visited the Arizona Museum of Youth today. It's been a few months since our last visit, and the boys had fun. They have a new exhibit on the museum side about Inuit life.
They most enjoyed this tube exhibit. Each tube and shelf had velcro, so could be attached to the felt covered area. By arranging the tubes on downward slopes, balls would move through the tubes. The boys had a great time experimenting with finding the right angles to make the balls flow through.
Colin really loved his fish - named Feta the Beta. She moved into our house last March and he had great fun reading to her and talking to her every day. We were all sad today to realize that she had died.
My friend, Denise, came over last week and handed me a small stack of pictures that she found in a drawer. They were from Nate's baptism in August of 2002! It was fun looking at how tiny he was back then. This is a shot of Colin, Bo, Melanie, Nate & Donnella and John who are godparents for both Colin & Nate
From our trip to California, February 2005. We were there again in early October, but I'm ready for another beach run! Maybe we can squeeze a quick trip in next month?
The boys are taking a one afternoon/week preschool class again this spring at the Desert Botanical Gardens. Last week, Colin was very disappointed we didn't spend our usual few hours after class exploring, so I made sure to take the time this week.
The book he's carrying is "Scat & Tracks of the Desert Southwest". There are a number of tracks in the cement throughout the Garden trails, but especially in one area. He found the book at the gift shop last fall, and enjoys searching for matches.
Nate is interested in getting as close to things to study them as possible.
